About the opportunity

Reporting into the CFO, the Commercial Analyst will be part of and supported by an incredibly talented and committed team. This newly created position will give you the opportunity to use your financial expertise, commercial acumen, and highly attuned analytics in a relatable, transparent and effective manner that align to and positively impact the operational and strategic directives of Modica. To be successful in this role you will:

  • Analyse financial and non-financial data to provide insight and decision critical information across the business
  • Create and enhance existing systems and procedures to drive further growth and accountability metrics for all business units
  • Initiate, champion and challenge business transformation projects around reporting, forecasting, information collection and sharing
  • Assist CFO, Financial Controller and the wider ELT in budget preparation, forecasting, analytics, modelling and report writing
  • Lead forecasting and implication reviews on capital budgeting, funding requirements and cash flow risk
  • Work directly with CEO, CFO and external advisors on analysing the company’s long-term strategic investment opportunities, including formation and execution of the Group’s M&A strategy    

About you

You have a passion for running the numbers, doing the research and being the conduit between finance and the business. You can translate financial jargon in a way that brings the numbers to life for those that don’t have the same passion and while being self-directed, self-motivated and adaptable in your approach, you recognise you are a contributing Finance team member.  You will be articulate, resilient, proactive, personable and have the ability to champion and challenge those you work with in a positive and well-meaning manner. Fast pace and high growth environments excite you, team contribution and success empower you and delivery is your kryptonite. Your experience includes:

  • A minimum 5 years' work experience in a professional services/CA/ investment banking firm, with broader corporate expertise in a financial or analytical role
  • Demonstrated knowledge in financial analysis, modelling and forecasting
  • Proven commercial exposure with the ability to relate financial information to strategic and operational objectives
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organisation and planning skills adept at multi-tasking and prioritisation
  • The ability to influence and build robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to Power BI or equivalent
  • Experience working with modern technology and cloud-based accounting systems, such as Xero or NetSuite and various ecosystem add-ons would be beneficial
  • While a CFA or CA qualification would be desirable it is not essential
