About the opportunity:

Due to our continued growth, global expansion and an internal promotion, we have the opportunity for a UX Designer to join our product team. You will be responsible for the user experience design of our platform in order to meet the needs of our staff, our clients and their customers.

Your days will be varied, but the primary mission will be to improve our platform and products from the ground up with the aim of building modern, easy-to-use solutions for Modica’s users across multiple geographies, time zones and languages.

Through user-centred design methodologies you will develop an intimate understanding of our customers’ needs and translate these into interfaces that are simple and practical. Partnering closely with our multi-functional team, this role will be key in creating brand consistency and ensuring that high-quality solutions are built with the aim of delivering an overall amazing customer experience.

You will:

  • Conduct research and analysis to build empathy and gain user insights
  • Propose and promote improvements based on research outputs
  • Formulate and evaluate processes for best practices in user-centred research and design
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Work collaboratively with designers, developers and the wider product team to create UI designs and prototypes that clearly illustrate to stakeholders how sites function and look.
  • Work with developers on quality assurance and acceptance testing throughout the software development process.
  • Actively maintain our front-end design system used for UI creation and implementation.
  • Work with Marketing to ensure consistency of brand across solutions, and provide graphic design assistance where needed for the company website and other marketing material.
  • Work with Product Owners to contribute to team product strategy and vision.
  • Communicate product improvements to stakeholders across the business through presentations and demonstrations.
  • Advocate for UX design across the company, demonstrating the value and benefits of user-centred design strategies.

About you

Design and user experience are at the forefront of everything you do, and you possess a deep understanding of user-centred design. You love working in fast-moving, agile work environments and take a practical approach to delivering creative and simple solutions.

We are looking for someone who brings:

  • Hands-on experience as a UX designer with a demonstrable portfolio of design work.
  • Strong experience with interface prototyping software such as Figma, Adobe XD or Sketch (our team uses Figma).
  • Proven knowledge of user-centred research and analysis techniques.
  • Basic understanding of HTML & CSS - additional front-end development experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Great empathetic skills in understanding the needs of stakeholders and end users.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to self-manage deadlines and priorities.
  • A passion to learn and keep up to date with the latest design technology and UX design methodologies.
  • Flexibility to pivot and adapt to changes.
