Message Scrubbing API

The Modica Message Scrubbing API turbo charges the ability to detect and disrupt scam messages. It’s a key part of our goal to stay ahead of scammers and protect our communities effectively.

Our Message Filter checks all MT’s flowing through our system for different types of scam indicators, allowing for real-time blocking,

The Message Filtering API allows our wholesale and MNO partners to take their own message content that is NOT sent through the Modica platform and scrub it for illegal content using the Modica Threat Intelligence database.

1. URL Filter:

Identifying Malicious Links.

Our system actively checks messages for suspicious URLs or domains. We maintain a constantly updated list of known scam links and domains, gathered from our own research and third-party sources. Additionally, we utilise Google Web Risk to assess the safety of links.

2. Sender ID Filte

Checking Sender Fraud.

Scammers often try to impersonate trusted organisations. We prevent this by verifying sender IDs through two methods. First, our direct customers register their sender IDs with us, ensuring their messages get through. Second, we maintain a list of blocked sender IDs, such as generic or sensitive ones like "SMS" or "Notice”, as well as Sender IDs that are reserved to a specific customer, for example a bank or government service.

3. Campaign Filter

Recognising Scam Patterns.

Each message passing through our system is assigned a unique signature based on its content. We identify known scam patterns and automatically block messages matching these signatures.
